También conocida como Freckles o Trout Back, es una reliquia de Arche Noah, el proyecto de preservación genética austríaco. Una lechuga romana absolutamente hermosa con el delicado sabor y la textura de una lechuga mantecosa, que se distingue por sus hojas de un verde intenso salpicadas de manchas de color rojo vino. La de mejor sabor de las 50 lechugas de nuestro ensayo de 1998. Las hojas tiernas y muy mantecosas se pueden cosechar a una altura de 10 a 15 cm para obtener una variedad mesclun o se pueden dejar crecer hasta alcanzar su tamaño máximo para obtener el máximo beneficio ornamental.

Se pueden sembrar directamente en el jardín cuando la tierra esté lista o se pueden cultivar previamente antes de plantarlas en el jardín. Se siembran las semillas a poca profundidad, a unos 0,5 cm. La mejor temperatura para la germinación es inferior a 18 °C. Si la temperatura es más alta, la tasa de germinación será menor y las plántulas serán débiles. Se pueden sembrar sucesivamente para tener acceso a ellas durante toda la temporada. No dejes que las plántulas se sequen. Cuando las plantas están establecidas, toleran el clima frío.
