Tithonia rotundifolia. Las semillas de la Antorcha Mexicana producen flores de un color naranja muy brillante sobre plantas enormes que crecen hasta 1,8 m (6') en tan solo unos meses. La Tithonia no produce flores comestibles y no es un verdadero girasol. Si se cultiva en recipientes grandes (de 3 a 5 galones como mínimo), las plantas se mantendrán más compactas y crecerán solo hasta 60 cm (24") de altura. La Tithonia es muy atractiva para los polinizadores, incluidos los colibríes, y luce muy bien cuando se planta en grandes grupos o hileras. Las semillas son fáciles de recolectar y secar para plantar en el futuro, y los tallos enormes de las plantas se pueden usar para enrejar guisantes o frijoles de enrame el año siguiente. La Antorcha Mexicana ganó un premio AAS en 1951.
