Best Time for Sowing (Zone 6b):
Direct sow outdoors late May through June once soil temperatures consistently exceed 18°C (65°F), frost danger completely passed (sow 0.5 to 1 inch deep). Broadcast evenly or drill in rows 6 to 12 inches apart. Mow or flail-chop when growth reaches 3 to 4 feet tall to encourage dense tillering or till under prior to autumn frost.
