    Description

Bean 'Kentucky Wonder' (Phaseolus vulgaris), originally introduced in the mid-19th century as Old Homestead, is one of the most famous open-pollinated heirloom pole beans in history. Renowned for its extraordinary vigor, heavy productivity, and extended harvest window, this climbing variety reaches 6 to 8 feet in height on trellises, fences, or tepees. It produces generous clusters of 7- to 9-inch silvery-green pods that are thick, meaty, and slightly curved. Best harvested young when stringless, Kentucky Wonder pods deliver a rich, distinctive "bean-y" flavor that remains unmatched for fresh steaming, boiling, canning, or freezing throughout the summer.
