    Description

Mullein (Verbascum thapsus) is a historic, majestic heirloom biennial long revered for its striking, architectural presence and rich herbal traditions. In its first year, it forms a plush, low-growing rosette of soft, silvery-green, velvety leaves that feel like flannel. In its second year, it shoots up a commanding, candle-like flowering spike reaching 5 to 7 feet in height, densely clustered with bright yellow blooms that open sequentially from bottom to top. Exceptionally drought-tolerant and hardy, mullein is a favorite for xeriscaping, cottage gardens, herbal tea gardens, and attracting native bees and pollinators.
