    Description

Poppy Icelandic (Papaver nudicaule) is a stunning, short-lived perennial prized for its large, translucent, crepe-paper-like blossoms atop slender, wiry stems. Rising 12 to 24 inches above a low basal rosette of blue-green foliage, it produces 2- to 4-inch cup-shaped flowers in a brilliant mix of glowing yellow, orange, salmon, rose, cream, and pure white with golden centers. Native to subpolar regions, it thrives in cool temperatures and light sunlight, blooming heavily in spring and early summer. A premier cut flower and cottage garden showstopper, its delicate appearance hides a surprisingly resilient cool-weather crop that brings vibrant, glowing color to cool-season garden beds.
