    Description

Watermelon 'Moon & Stars' (Citrullus lanatus) is a legendary open-pollinated heirloom originally introduced in 1926 by Peter Henderson & Co. Renowned for its distinctive, eye-catching foliage and rind markings, it produces large, oval fruits weighing 20 to 40 pounds. The dark green skin and deeply lobed leaves are speckled with tiny, bright yellow "stars" and one or two larger yellow "moons." Slicing open the thick rind reveals crisp, sweet, vibrant red flesh studded with dark brown seeds. Highly celebrated by heirloom collectors, Moon & Stars combines historical novelty with outstanding, refreshing summer flavor.
